DestiMED has completed its third round of testing ecotourism packages designed to support conservation of Mediterranean protected areas.

Camargue National Park (France), Calanques National Park (France), Kornati National Park (Croatia), and Menorca Biosphere Reserve (Spain) each had the opportunity to welcome ecotourism experts from around the globe. These testers provided feedback on the quality of their refined products, which had been improved by Local Ecotourism Clusters (LECs) based on feedback from an earlier round of testing. Project Partners also reviewed the effectiveness of these LECs, and the local teams received feedback about their sustainability and Ecological Footprint.

Each LEC will now review the second assessment results, and make final improvements in order to qualify for DestiMED´s promotion phase, and ultimately to be promoted in the MEET Network catalogue.

Testers have consistently provided positive feedback about the level of quality and inspiration provided by DestiMED´s alternative model of tourism, which is focused on its 4C Model of tourism: Compassion, Connection, Community, and Conservation.

¨This kind of trip was a really nice surprise, much different than I expected,¨shared one of the testers. ¨I really appreciated the rhythm of the tour and that it built to a crescendo, as we moved further and further away from civilization. In that sense, we were always surprised and enthusiastic about the nature surrounding us, as well as the activities we did and the people we met.¨
